Elegant basin decorated with a frieze of water leaves, lined with a wide frieze of vine leaves, grapes and florets. The ewer, embellished with a superb swan, frequently used for "furniture" toilet, emphasizes the theme of water. A head of Bacchus, at the beginning of the cove, completes the theme of the vine.

This set, beautifully executed by Adolphe Boulenger, is directly inspired by the swan ewer and bowl delivered by Martin Guillaume Bienais for the Palais des Tuileries in 1802, now preserved in the Louvre.
