Office armchair with rotating seat in mahogany and mahogany veneer from Jacob Desmalter et Cie, association between Georges Jacob and his son François Honoré Georges Jacob Desmalter between 1803 and 1813.

Model with a powerful and elegant aesthetic, with a semicircular backrest extended into armrests finely carved with rams' muzzles.
The circular seat rests on a frame supported by four console legs, an invention of Georges Jacob that the latter, with his son, revisits in Empire fashion.

The seat, with horsehair, is covered with an old black leather of good quality, some scratches.
The swivel system is completely original, rollers and brass rails in good working order.

The set is in good condition, with a beautiful mahogany, some scratches at the bottom of the feet, restorations.

Empire period.

Stamped JACOB D RUE MESLÉE.

When the eldest of the Jacob brothers died on 30 Vendémiaire Year XII (October 23, 1803), François-Honoré formed a new association with his father Georges, under the name of “Jacob Desmalter et Cie”.
When he was appointed cabinetmaker to the Emperor, his factory took on a prodigious development. There were no less than fifteen workshops there, including seven for carpentry, cabinetmaking and turning, three for sculpture, painting and gilding on wood, three others for working bronzes, one for tapestry and the last for mechanical locksmithing. The father was always there active and wise, watching over everything.
It was at this time that Jacob Desmalter, working with the painter David and the ornamentalists Percier and Fontaine, created the Empire style, imitated from the antique and which sought in the art of imperial Rome its sumptuous, majestic and powerful lines.

As with all of my art objects and furniture, I am very careful to be able to offer them to you at a very low expert estimate.
