A particularly remarkable piece for this magnificent office chair with rotating seat from the Louis XVI period in moulded, carved and gilded wood stamped with the very popular Master cabinetmaker, Sulpice Brizard (1735-1798).
The wrap-around backrest is sculpted at its top, from a duo of roses, one open the other closed, already revealing the talent of Sulpice Brizard’s sculpor. 
The belt carved with flowers, foliage and rosettes rests on tapered, fluted and rough feet.
Magnificent original gilding with gold leaf, restored by an art gilder.
Leather trim of excellent quality. 

Museum piece Stamped S. BRIZARD , for Sulpice Brizard supplier of the Crown recognized for its finesse, its originality and as Francois de Salverte wrote: "its pleasant fantasy". 
Having married Marie-Genevieve Meunier, daughter of the master cabinetmaker Étienne Meunier, Sulpice Brizard is admitted to the master on February 13, 1762 and settles rue de Cléry. 
Most of his work belongs to the Louis XVI style, with models with very beautiful proportions, finely carved and executed with great refinement. It is distinguished from more original features, with for example sofas and shepherdess with an anterior belt not domed, as usual, but concave.

The Mobilier National, the Palace of Versailles and the Musée Carnavalet, among others, have several works in gilded wood dating from the same period.
These works are now rare and particularly popular.
