Work of great finesse with neat chiselling for this elegant pair of Empire period candelabra in gilded bronze and brown patina.
Standing on a quadrangular pyramidal base, a vestal door, like a canephore, a magnificent flaming torchiere, surrounded by a large laurel wreath with three arms of light. 
The latter serving as consoles for the chiseled binets of anthemions.
Binets characteristic of Claude Galle, which can be found identically on many other models of candelabras and torches referenced. The same is true for the sconces on the front of the base, with a combination of palmettes, foliage and finials. 
We find a copy attributed to Claude Galle of this rare pair of candelabra in the living room of the Hotel de Monsieur D'allemande, rue des mathurins. Paul Marmottan, "The Empire style, architecture and interior decoration", plates 28 and 29.
 
The superb gilding also bears witness to perfect mastery. This one, entirely original, highlights all the details with its matte and shiny finishes.
